Month in Review: May 2019

Thank you to everyone who entered my 3rd blogoversary giveaway - the winner was Alicia!

The weather this month was unusually rainy, particularly at the beginning and then again at the end of the month.  It led to a lot of relaxing and reading inside!  We did have a few nice days, and we took advantage of that to start doing some stuff outside to get ready for summer - getting flowers for our planters and putting out the patio furniture.  I got an early start to the Memorial Day weekend when we lost power in our office and were sent home early, and the good luck continued into Monday when we had great weather for our barbecue!

I mentioned last month that our niece was born, and this month we welcomed yet another new little niece to the family!  So many kids to keep track of!  I've been wanting to do a travel wall of some of our vacation photos for years, but we didn't have room for it at our condo.  Finally, a year and a half after we moved into our house, I started this project!  I can't wait to add to it and keep ticking off states on our scratch map.  Also this month, we had a little get-together for family and friends to make blankets for Project Linus.  We were able to collect, make, and label 43 blankets for our local chapter!

Starting in June, Austine at NovelKnight and Aly at Of Wonderland are hosting a readalong of all the Game of Thrones books, dubbed #IronThroneReadalong!  I've been wanting to reread the books, but they are such a commitment!  The readalong breaks down the books into manageable weekly chunks, and I think that's a great way to go.  I'm planning on joining in - how about you?

  4. That’s awesome that you got sent home early before a long weekend. I should probably continue with the GoT books. I’ve only made it through the first 3 so far. Happy June!

  5. So many wonderful books up there. I hope you are ready for summer reading. I haven’t read any of the Game of Thrones books, I should try them, but I am getting ready for summer and all the craziness, no commitments because then I will feel guilty if I can’t keep them. Yeah for new nieces. I got a new nephew back in November and I am finally going to get to meet him at the end of June. Yeah!

  8. Wow! You read a lot of books in May and a couple are favorites of mine. On surprise that one is Daisy Jones, but another favorite is The Paris Wife. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Congrats on the two new nieces. Babies are the best!

    1. Babies are so sweet! I was surprised by Daisy Jones, too - I've mostly loved all of her books, but I was a little worried about the time period on this one.

  14. Congratulations on the new niece! How wonderful! I hope she and mom are happy, healthy and wonderful! We also put out all of our stuff around then. It was nice. We had to get ready for my daughters graduation and all that, that entailed. It seemed like that never got done. It was weeks in the making!
