October was a fun month! Tom and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary with some takeout at home. We stuck with our tradition of giving each other traditional anniversary gifts (this year was pottery). My dad and stepmom hosted a Fall Fun Day/Halloween party later in the month. They had a bunch of fun activities for kids and adults alike. The weather was good so we were able to stay outside most of the time.
Tom's return to work was pushed back again, to November, and I'm still working from home, although my firm has announced that everyone will have to start coming in on designated days of the week starting in November.
Most of the month was taken up with baby stuff! We were so lucky to have various family members come over to help us put together furniture, strollers, etc. I spent a lot of time washing and organizing clothes, sheets, and blankets and ordering more stuff we'll probably need. The ladies I work with threw me a virtual baby shower, which was so sweet of them. We also took a virtual childbirth/parenting class, which just made me even more terrified. Thank you all for your kind words last month on our little announcement!

I feel like an absolute idiot for missing your announcement— congratulations! What wonderful news! And happy anniversary 😁
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Verushka! Please don't feel like an idiot, I really haven't talked about it much!
DeleteHopefully October will be an equally good month for you!
ReplyDeleteBaby prep is so fun! So that was the announcement last time (I thought I missed it at some other point). I could get behind only having to go into work on designated days.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun, but it's so overwhelming! Haha, yes, that was the "official" announcement on the blog - it's just been such an emotional time for me, I didn't really know how to talk about it!
DeleteThe fall fun day sounds like a good time. And nice that the weather cooperated. I hope the shift to going into the office on certain days goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteThankfully, the return to work doesn't apply to me right now, but I hope it works out for everyone else at the office!
DeleteHappy (belated) Anniversary to you and your husband! I love the traditional gifts thing, I have tried to do that with my husbands so far, but it's had varying levels of success, haha. Sounds like a really nice month overall, I'm glad to hear it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jordan! Haha, yes, some years the gifts are harder than others and we have to get creative!
DeleteHappy Anniversary! That is so exciting! I can't believe you guys aren't back at work yet. My husband has been back and is even traveling for work! UGH! I am jealous. Enjoy this time before your little one comes. Did you enjoy Our Woman in Moscow? Also, Shipped was a fun little escape!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Christina! Technically the office has been open this whole time, but most people were working from home. Each time they had an official reopening plan set up, numbers would start to spike, so they kept pushing it back. I think they just want to get back to more of a regular schedule of people coming in.
DeleteI enjoyed Our Woman in Moscow!
Happy anniversary! And that's nice that you guys are still working from home. I'm glad some companies are still doing that. Better to be safe than sorry, right?
ReplyDeleteShipped looks so fun, and Pride & Premeditation too.
Thanks, Greg! Yes, I'm lucky that my company has been so flexible!
DeleteHappy anniversary, glad you were able to celebrate even if it was in a small way. I just added Horrorstor to my TBR thanks to you and hopefully I can pick up my first Grady Hendrix novel soon. Happy November!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Alicia!
DeleteYay, hope you enjoy Horrorstor!
Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby! That's so sweet that your coworkers threw you a virtual baby shower. I hope going back to the office goes smoothly for you. My firm is supposed to be implementing a 4 days remote/1 day in the office policy at some point but they don't seem to be in a hurry to do so.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Suzanne! Yes, the shower was so nice, considering I've barely been in the office the entire time I've worked here! Your company kind of sounds like mine!
DeleteHappy anniversary! Good luck with all the baby prep. I was shocked by how much stuff a baby needs. My entire house is packed full of kids' stuff. They grow so fast that you don't have time to get rid of the old stuff before you have to buy new stuff.
ReplyDeleteOMG, our house has been taken over and he's not even here yet! And the stuff is so big for someone so small!
DeleteHappy anniversary! And I love your gift tradition!
ReplyDeleteNice list! Our Woman in Moscow sounds really good!

Enjoy your November titles!
Thank you, Emma!
DeleteHappy anniversary! And so nice that your coworkers threw you a virtual baby shower!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all the baby prep and I hope your return to work goes well. We've been back at the office for a few months now, but Covid numbers have been going up again recently and they're recommending work from home once again. I've been working from home 1-2 days a week and I'm kind of hoping I'll get more days from home again, but we'll see. Have a great November!
Thanks so much, Lindsey!
DeleteI think a lot of people are realizing they'd like to work from home more often!
Looking like you got in some fun reading - good for you! I'm reading next to nothing right now. Also, congrats on your upcoming arrival! So happy for you. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Rissi!
