Top Ten Tuesday: When Royalty Falls in Love With a Regular Person

Happy Valentine's Day!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.  This week's topic is romance tropes/types.  I think a lot of us harbor a secret fantasy that a prince will sweep us off our feet into a life of luxury.  But since I'm already married to my "regular guy" Prince Charming, I'll have to settle for reading about romance between royalty and commoners in these books!

The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

Winter by Marissa Meyer

The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

The Runaway Princess by Hester Browne

The Queen's Lover by Vanora Bennett

The White Queen by Philippa Gregory

The Selection by Kiera Cass

    1. I love that it mixes fantasy with reality. The Royal We was such a great read - total William & Kate fan fiction!

  3. Gah, I completely forgot about this one yesterday! And here I was, trying to think of some tropes, lol. I haven't read any of the ones you mentioned, but I'm eyeballing The Selection and Winter. :D

  4. I love the Selection series! I wasn't sure if I would like it or not since I don't usually read YA, but I was sucked in quickly and ended up loving it.

    1. I really enjoyed it, too! Well, I liked the original series - I haven't read all the additional books focusing on their daughter, I wasn't crazy about the first one.

  5. This trope often makes me think of Hallmark films. :) I still need to read Winter, but I LOVED all the others in the series.
