Quotables #12: The Love Edition

I love this quote because for me it's so true.  You can't take love for granted.  While I don't believe that love should be difficult, you and your partner still have to put work into it.  You have to keep showing the other how much you love them, because complacency can lead to resentment.

The act of falling in love can be a wonderful thing - everything is new and exciting.  But there's something to be said for being in love - it feels comfortable and safe knowing you've found your person.

For love to be true, there has to be honesty.  You have to show that other person who you really are, the good and the bad parts, and then it's up to them whether they will accept you.

Which of these can you relate to?  What's your favorite quote about love?

  1. These are all so beautiful and so true. I'm going to be reading The Clockmaker's Daughter soon, and based on this quote, I think I'll love the prose!

  7. Absolutely love these quotes! It is very true that you can't take love for granted. It's sad to see couples say they love each other one minute but then argue the next... all the time. You re supposed to be a team are you not?
I would like to beyond that butterfly stage one day. I've never been in love so I can't say I directly relate to any of these but I understand them from observations and of course books.

    1. I've been with my husband for 15 years, so we are definitely beyond the butterfly stage, and I much prefer this stage of our relationship!

    1. I totally agree! It's so easy to let days or weeks go by, caught up in life, but you have to remember to maintain that connection.

  12. This is really cute. I love these quotes and you are sooo right you have to show all the good and the bad and that person has to love you for all of them. I am glad I found my person.

  14. Ooh I love these! Cuz they're not about the romance aspect, they're about the love that, as you said, has to be given effort and not just taken for granted. You found some great quotes.
