Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Books Written Before I Was Born

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.  This week's topic is books written before we were born.  I decided to make a list of my favorite older books!

Did any of these make your list?

  3. I love seeing Rebecca and I Capture the Castle here since they both made my list of books older than me that I still want to read. :)

  5. I love all of these books, except for Dorian Grey. Somehow I never read that one! I just read Rebecca last year and I love Capture the Castle. GWTW is one of my favorite books of all-time even though it has received a lot of criticism lately.

    1. Dorian Gray was a quick read - if you get a chance, I'd highly recommend it!

  9. Pride and Prejudice is one of my faves! I loved The Chronicles of Narnia movie, but I still need to read the books :)

  10. I decided to limit to the ones I read last year and published before my birth, so I don't have any in common, BUT I so loved Narnia and Rebecca! Nice list

  11. I'd really like to re- read the Narnia books at some point, I bet I'd get so much more out of them as an adult!

  12. Terabithia keeps popping up today. I didn't read it as a kid, but I would not have been able to include it since I was in grade school when it came out.

  13. I'm proud to say that I've read all of these books except DORIAN GRAY. JANE EYRE, ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, and GONE WITH THE WIND are all on my list today as well because they're also favorites of mine. Fun list!

    Happy TTT!

  14. I wanted to put Rebecca on my list, but I didn’t because I feel like I’ve talked about it enough on my blog. I considered putting Jacob Have I Loved on there too.

  16. My mother has tried to get me to read Rebecca for years but I've just never made it a priority. Maybe I'll shock her and finally read it this year. :)

  17. What a pleasant surprise to see Jacob Have I Loved on here. I've never read it, but it was a title that always stood out to me on the library shelf. Always meant to get around to it...ooh, never mind, the library still has it! I wasn't sure if this one had attained enough lasting acclaim to survive their constant purges of anything 10+ years old that isn't a bestseller. (thanks for coming to my live-stream-of-consciousness talk)

    1. Haha, it's no problem! I would highly recommend you grab a copy from your library!

  18. I'm with you on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Anne of Green Gables! I enjoyed some of the others, but I wouldn't necessarily have ranked them in my top 10, because I don't reread them as often.

  19. I don't know you but I think I'd like you. :) I didn't do this list (not a 'book blogger') but oh, I am the child that books built. On your list, I haven't read The Picture of Dorian Gray, Rebecca, GWTW, and I Capture the Castle. Interesting - ICTC was on my shelf for YEARS and I never read it, but this makes me think I should find it again! The others would all make my top 10 too...

    1. Aww, thanks, Anne! I'm glad we have so many books in common - definitely read I Capture The Castle!
