Emily Henry
Expected publication date: April 25, 2023
A couple who broke up months ago make a pact to pretend to still be together for their annual weeklong vacation with their best friends in this glittering and wise new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Emily Henry.
Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t.
They broke up six months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.
Which is how they find themselves sharing the largest bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. Their annual respite from the world, where for one vibrant, blue week they leave behind their daily lives; have copious amounts of cheese, wine, and seafood; and soak up the salty coastal air with the people who understand them most.
Only this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth while trying not to notice how desperately they still want each other. Because the cottage is for sale and this is the last week they’ll all have together in this place. They can’t stand to break their friends’ hearts, and so they’ll play their parts. Harriet will be the driven surgical resident who never starts a fight, and Wyn will be the laid-back charmer who never lets the cracks show. It’s a flawless plan (if you look at it from a great distance and through a pair of sunscreen-smeared sunglasses). After years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week…in front of those who know you best? - from Goodreads
How hard can it be indeed! What a thoroughly entertaining set up!
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
DeleteI have loved Henry since her YA debut and will always eagerly anticipate her books. Honestly, there was only one that was below 4 for me (Hello Girls - too dark for Sam)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know she wrote YA!
DeleteI am so excited for this one, too! Bring on all the beach reads!
ReplyDeleteYes, never too early to start planning for summer!
DeleteI desperately need to catch up on Emily Henry's books. This one especially sounds really great and fun!
ReplyDeleteYes, I haven't even read her last 2 yet!
DeleteHaving to fake the relationship when it's over... the forced proximity... it's a recipe for a great story.
ReplyDeleteIt really is, and it does feel very true to life!
DeleteHer books are very hit or miss for me, but this one sounds so good!
ReplyDeleteI've only read one and it was an ok read for me - I need to try her other two adult books!
DeleteI read 3 of her books last year and really only liked one - decided she's an author that's not for me. But I'm definitely in the minority - hope you like this one.

That's fair - not every author is for every reader! I've actually only read one of her books, so I can't make an absolute assessment yet!
DeleteI'm really excited for this one too. I've had such great luck with all of her books.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read any from her!
