Battle of the Book Covers #8

In Battle of the Book Covers, I pick one book, compile a bunch of different international covers, and choose my favorite - and I'd love for you to weigh in, too!  (Thank you to Heather at Random Redheaded Ramblings, who put together a list of 25 book blog post ideas, for the inspiration!)

For this edition, I've chosen The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, first published in 2015, another of my favorite books!

2015 US // 2015 Romanian // 2016 German

2015 Dutch // 2016 Lithuanian // 2016 Bulgarian

 2016 French // 2016 Swedish // 2016 Croatian

This one is hard because there are so many I like for different reasons, but I think I'll go with...

The 2016 French edition!  There's just something about the way the photograph evokes the time period and puts a real face to the characters.

Which one is your favorite?

  1. Ooh I love looking at covers! My fave based on looks alone is the 2016 German one, but I have no idea if it suits the book. I can definitely see why you picked the one you picked, especially if it evokes the book well! It's just a nice photo too.

  2. I've never seen most of the covers for The Nightingale! Some of them are sooo different. Even so, I think the original US cover is still my favorite.

  3. I love the French one you picked and then I also love the U.S., the Lithuanian and the Bulgarian (that last one just because I think it's so pretty, lol).

  4. Great choice! My favorite out of these is probably the German one. I love the gold and white colors.

  5. I have to say that I think the US cover is the best, which I usually don't gravitate towards the US covers. So, I am surprised by this! I like the Bulgarian cover second best.

    1. I'm hit or miss on US covers - this is a good one, though!

  6. These are nice. I think I like the Croatian one for some reason, and there's something about the German one too. Bit I agree about the French one- it does have a sense of place!

    1. The Croatian one is interesting to me because it feels very "Kristin Hannah" - it's similar to a lot of her other covers.

  7. I sort of like them all. The Dutch one really speaks to me though

    1. I think I would like that one more if it were a bit brighter, but I do like the two girls, because the sisters are the heart of the story.

  8. I love comparing covers! The French one is really lovely, and I really like the US and German covers! The Lithuanian edition also has a really nice simplicity about it that I like quite a bit.

  9. Oh, this is a difficult one as I kind of like all of these covers. But I think the US one, the French one and the German one are my favorites!

  10. I haven't read this book, so I don't know which cover fits the story, but the German one is my favorite. I love the gold.
