Month in Review: June 2021

Just a little housekeeping note - as I'm sure you've all heard, Google's FeedBurner is going into maintenance mode at some point this month.  That means the email subscription service my blog uses will no longer function.  As I'm too lazy to research another option, I would encourage my lovely email subscribers to follow another way, either by Bloglovin' or Facebook, and links to both of those can be found to the right!

So, onto June!  This was actually a really quiet month.  Tom and I have been working on cleaning/organizing/purging some areas of our house - we have way too much stuff and it's getting overwhelming!  I spent a Saturday shopping with my mom and sister (I know, seems counterproductive to what I just said, but it was for clothes, so I feel like it's ok!).  It's nice to just be able to go places and not have to think about it too much!  Work has been pretty busy.  The woman I've been training with/working under for the past year retired this month (it was well-deserved, she stayed on for way longer than she had planned to), so suddenly I feel a lot more pressure!  I actually had to go into the office for the first time since November to help train some new staff members, and it was nice to be around other people for a few hours!  We are mainly still working from home, although the company is working on a reopening plan for the fall, so we'll see what happens.

  1. I know the feeling of having way too much stuff (books... it's books 😅)

  2. Even for a quiet month, you did well getting through these!

  3. I did so much weeding out and purging when we moved 2-3 years ago. Since then I've continued to weed out here and there, plus organize a lot. There was just too much stuff that we were hanging on to. It's a good feeling to get rid of it! That Jenn Bennett book has been on my TBR for ages!

  4. Another good month! The news about google's feedburner is so frustrating... I've got the blogluvin' link in my sidebar, too.

    1. Yeah, I definitely think that's a great option!

  5. You crack me up. Purging and shopping - out with the old, in with the new? I feel you. It's easy to accumulate a lot of stuff. Moving helped me do a big purge. I am not familiar with Pagan. I have to look into those books up there.

    1. Yeah, unfortunately the last time we moved it was to a bigger place, which only encouraged us to accumulate more stuff (also, his parents tend to give us a lot of stuff). With clothes at least, I try to get rid of something when I buy something new!

    1. Well, apparently I have to come back again, so we'll have another day to chat and not get enough done!

  7. I hear you about purging items. I need to do this in the fall when my kids are back to school. We have accumulated SO MUCH STUFF, especially during the pandemic when we were home a lot. It sounds like you had a good June though! I am really interested in Hauck's books and Chasing Lucky is on my TBR list!

    1. Yeah, I'm scared to see how much stuff we have in our backyard shed! That's been just a catch-all place for stuff we don't want to deal with!

  8. Ever since listening to The Year of Less by Cait Flanders, I have been in serious purge mode. The problem was, my husband and I kinda jumped in with both feet and now our apartment looks like a tornado went through. We really should have started with one room at a time. Oh well ... too late now!

Have a wonderful upcoming month :)

  9. Good luck with purging stuff! I have a closet full of things that need to find new homes, but I’m too lazy to deal with it. I just shut the door and pretend it doesn’t exist.

  10. Thanks for the reminder about Feedburner. I need to find a solution. And good luck with the purge! I really need to purge a lot of our stuff, too... but it's hard to let go of things, especially books. Still, there are any number of things we really don't need...

Looks like you have been reading some good books! I hope your July goes well, too.

    1. Haha, books are one of the few things I don't really get rid of! When we moved into our house, we just kind of threw a bunch of stuff in the spare bedroom, and now almost 4 years later, I think it's time to finally go through it all!

  11. I'm off a couple days this week and purging stuff is high on my to-do list too. I can't even figure out how we manage to accumulate so much, lol.

    1. LOL, I know a lot of ours comes from my in-laws! They are trying to purge and seem to think we want all of their stuff!

  12. That stinks about your email subscribers. It's nice to do some well-needed organizing. I always like to do this during the summer rather than the spring myself. Wishing you a really great July!

    1. Yes, I definitely don't limit it to spring, it's kind of whenever I feel the motivation! Thanks, Alicia!

  13. My brother and I also did some major cleaning this month. I seriously have been avoiding my closet because I know I need to organize it 😅
Looking forward to your review on Squeeze Play. I remember you putting it on a list somewhere and being really intrigued about it. Hope you have a wonderful July!

  14. Good luck with the reopen! It is weird going back to the office after being gone so long.
And I agree it's nice being able to get out more again.

Hope July is a great month for you!

  15. Good luck with the organizing! It's always such a good feeling when things are getting organized :) And it's been nice being able to go places again. I'm back at the office since this week and it'll definitely take some readjusting, so I wish you good luck with your reopen too!

  16. I kept ignoring the Feedburner alerts, and now it's already happened, haha--I'm not looking for something new, either. Quiet months can be nice! Hopefully continues to be good (without too much pressure, though)! All the books you read this past month are so colorful, I love it! Santa Monica is one I've had an ARC of sitting on my shelf for too long, I feel bad I haven't gotten to it yet. Glad you had a nice month!

  17. I was so bummed when I heard about FeedBurner. Why would you take something away that's working fine and actually a lot of people are using.... -.-
