Pride & Prejudice Retellings

I never read Pride and Prejudice in school, and it wasn't one of the classics I ever sought out on my own.  Then, I won a copy of a P&P retelling in a Goodreads giveaway, and I figured it was time to finally read it, so I could have an understanding of the story that inspired the retelling.  I really enjoyed the original, and since then I've read many P&P retellings.  Today I have a list of some of my favorites, as well as a few I'm looking forward to!

These first nine are retellings I've read and enjoyed:

Here are a few that are on my TBR!

What's your favorite Pride and Prejudice retelling?

  1. I am loving the look of the modern retellings in your list — I honestly think those are just the most creative things!

    1. I agree! It really shows how timeless the original story is.

  2. You know me. Never read Austen, but I have read lots of retellings. I loved First & Then, and believe I was a black sheep when it came to Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe. Maybe one's enjoyment of P&P retellings is better when you don't have the original to compare it to?

    1. That's a good point, you might not constantly be comparing it to the original!

  3. I don't think I've ever read a Pride and Prejudice retelling. I love the original book but for some reason I haven't gotten around to any retelling. 🤔

  4. That's so cool there are so many good retellings of this. I've never read P&P but I love the movie versions I've seen, and several of these sound good as well!

  7. So many good ones! I liked Eligible, P&P& Mistletoe, and First & Then. I really want to read Longbourn and The Clergyman's Wife. I'll have to check out Pride and Papercuts- sounds fun!

  8. I read the original in college. I haven’t read any retellings, but I do have Longbourn on my TBR shelf, so I’ll be reading that one eventually. I’m interested in The Other Bennet Sister too.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

  9. I was NOT a big Pride and Prejudice fan. Maybe because I'm not native English, I had a hard time getting through. I decided to read it as an audiobook after that, but it didn't hit home for me.

Which of the retellings do you recommend for me?!

    1. The language can be difficult at times!

It depends what you like! I'd probably recommend the modern updates!

  10. I love Pride and Prejudice, but I've never actually read any retellings! I do have Longbourn on my Kindle though, so I'll have to give that a go soon.

  11. I've looked at Staci's but never read it and I own the one by Emma Mills, too! Guess I have some (hopefully) good reading ahead. :)
