2022 Reading and Blogging Goals

Today I'm setting my blogging and reading goals for 2022!  I did pretty well on my 2021 goals, so I'm hoping I can do just as well on these!

  1. Read Little Women.  This classic has been on my shelf for over two years now, so it's time I finally get to it!
  2. Read 52 books.  I don't know how my reading is going to go this year, especially once I go back to work, so my goal for now is to aim for a book a week.  Maybe some fellow parents can give me some insight or advice?
  3. Don't be so rigid about a blogging schedule.  This goal is rather amorphous, but for the past couple years or so, I've kept to a pretty regular blogging schedule.  I don't want to put pressure on myself to stick to that schedule this year.  I'm sure I will have less time for blogging in general, and less reading may mean fewer reviews.  If I miss a week here or there, I want to be okay with that.
  4. Continue growing my Instagram account.  This is a carryover from last year.  I'm still loving posting pictures on Instagram and I want to continue my growth on that platform.
  5. Reread from my own collection with the intention of pruning my shelves.  My bookshelves are almost out of room at this point, and my goal was always to keep only those books that I've loved and would read again.  So, this year I want to reread from my shelves to see if there are any books that I'm not crazy about anymore and donate them.
  6. Keep track of how much I'm spending on books.  I don't think I spend an exorbitant amount of money on books, but knowing we'll have a lot of extra expenses this year makes me want to be more conscious of where I'm spending my money earmarked for "fun."

What are your bookish goals for 2022?

  1. I want to reread more books too this year. Good luck to us both!

  2. Good luck! Children steal most of your reading time. Between a toddler and work, I read a lot less than I used to. My advice is audiobooks. I listen while I exercise or clean. My job lets me listen at work when I don't have anything important to do. A big chunk of my reading happened at work last year.

    1. I wish I could read at work! I used to listen to a lot of audiobooks, I may have to try them again.

  3. A year or two ago I took on a much more relaxed attitude toward blogging and a blogging schedule and it was a total game-changer. I feel zero pressure to post a certain number of times per week or write a certain number of reviews. It's just: post what I can, when I can. And most importantly, when I feel like it. I no longer force it. And it's been great. :) Best of luck with all your goals, Angela!

  4. Little Women! Such a great goal to have for this year. It has been a long time since I have read it myself, but it will always be a favourite. I hope that you enjoy it. Good luck with the rest of your goals this year as well! :)

  6. Ooh I hope you enjoy Little Women! It's one that I'm not sure I'd love on its own, but it's a favorite of my mom's and means so much to people that it's become a special one! I'm totally with you on the blogging schedule. I think the past month I've had to be more flexible because of life and it's really shown me that that's okay and I should be more open to missing things here and there. Best of luck with all of these! I love how reasonable yet purposeful these goals are! I would like to re-read more as well.

  8. LOL are you sure you want to know how much you spend on books? Oh wait, you have self control, unlike me.

  9. Good luck and I actually want to do some of these too even if I haven't set them as concrete goals. Blogging a little more loosely...

  10. I think these sound like great goals, especially with a new baby in your life. It has been a while (my son is 14 now), but I remember when he was a baby, if I couldn't fall asleep while he was napping, that's when I would try to relax with a book.

    1. Yeah, I haven't totally gotten into that "sleep while the baby sleeps" habit, especially during the day. If I don't have too many other chores, I'm trying to fit a few pages in then. Sometimes I don't even pick up my book until the end of the day, but that's ok!
