August was a busy month for us! Two fun firsts for Henry - first haircut (he immediately looked years older) and first time in a pool! My sister had a pool party for our niece, and although I rarely wear a bathing suit and haven't gone in a pool in years, I sucked it up for Henry. Although a little resistant at first, he ended up loving it! We went to the movies twice to see The Meg 2 and Blue Beetle - although neither were great, it was nice to get out for awhile. We went on a family vacation to the Poconos with my dad, stepmom, and 4 of my 5 siblings, plus all their families. Twelve adults, seven kids, four bathrooms, and endless memories made! We spent a lot of time hanging out at the house (which had a pool and game room and backed up to a creek), but we also went out for some excursions. We spent an afternoon at a state park, visited a zoo, walked around Jim Thorpe (a very cute small town), and drove to Scranton to go to the Steamtown historic site and an aquarium. Henry's daycare was closed the last week of the month, so Tom took time off work while I continued to work from home (so I still got to hang out with them a bit, shh!). The weather was great, so they went for some long walks and played on the swings at the park. My in-laws also came over one afternoon to spend time with Henry.

I really wanna see The Meg 2 but haven't made it to the movies yet. I'm thoroughly prepared for a bad movie but those can be fun too haha
ReplyDeleteExactly! It was a fun escape.
DeleteWhat a fun month! We used to go on big family vacations, but that was when I was a teen. Definitely the stuff memories are made of.
ReplyDeleteThis was our second year in a row doing a vacation like this - we had fun, but it was definitely a lot more work with Henry being mobile this year!
DeleteSounds like August was filled with milestones and a lot of memories. I tried Twice in a Lifetime on audio but it wasn't working for me. I'll try again on Kindle at some point.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, Twice in a Lifetime wasn't my favorite read of the month.
DeleteSounds like August was a fabulous month for your family. :) Lots of memories and fun times. Hope you enjoyed some great books, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Rissi!

DeleteSounds like a great month! I love the Poconos. So glad you go to visit and relax up there. I really enjoyed Jim Thorpe when we visited last year--so cute! I hope you liked The Spectacular and Maybe Next Time - both books I enjoyed! Also, love the Bridgerton series - the perfect escape. I need to finish it though!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great location for a family vacation. Jim Thorpe was adorable! I loved The Spectacular and Maybe Next Time - both will probably make my best-of-2023 list!
DeleteWhat a fun month! It sounds like you've had an amazing time–definitely busy, but sounds like the good type of busy for sure. :) Looks like you even fit in some great books as well, which is always a plus in my opinion. I still need to get to The Spectacular!
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely the good type of busy! And lots of amazing books this month.
DeleteWhat an epic month and holiday!
