Month in Review: January 2020

January is usually a pretty quiet month, and honestly I can barely remember anything that happened!  We held our first Project Linus "working day" of the year, where we all come together with our current blanket projects and also help ready others for delivery.  We got over 100 blankets labelled and ready to go!

Our niece's birthday is one bright spot during this dreary month.  She turned 4 and we celebrated with her at her party.  I also took her shopping to pick out her own present.  She really wanted to go to the Disney store to get a new doll, and I thought she wanted an Ariel doll until we got there and she beelined for the new Anna and Elsa plushy dolls.  I think her goal is to collect every Frozen doll out there!

We had our first snow of the year, which promptly melted the next day.  I also got sick near the end of the month.  It was just a cold, but the cough was pretty unbearable and I actually ended up taking a day off work - I can't even remember the last time I took a sick day!  I spent the whole day reading, so it wasn't too bad!

  1. How fun taking your niece to pick out her own gift. It's amazing how much love the kids have for Frozen

    1. It's crazy! And she had to explain to me how these dolls were from the second movie because they were wearing different outfits...

  2. That is so cute how you took your niece to the Disney Store. God, I love that store. I could spend tons. haha. I am a Disney fanatic. You had an awesome reading month. I look forward to your thoughts on American Royals. My book club just picked that book! I've also had Next Year in Havana on my shelf for over year now! Hopefully I can read that one soon.

    1. Haha, I love that store, too! I really had to keep blinders on in there or I would have bought a ton of stuff for myself.

  3. Luna is obsessed with those dolls - she has slept with them every night since you got them for her. They have even made appearances at school and the grocery store.

  4. A Touch of Gold and Once and Future are two that I STILL need to read! Despite the Retellings Challenge I still am awful at actually reading my TBR. Haha! I hope you're feeling better!

  6. Aw I hope you're feeling better! Sometimes sick days are very much needed. I love the disney store, before I had my kiddo I wouldn't go in there without getting a stuffie. Now we go in there too much, I'd be broke!
I haven't read any of those books but a few are on my TBR, I hope they were good ones.

My monthly recap will be up here in a bit if you want to stop by :)

  8. My January is pretty much a blur as well, lol. That's so cute that you took your niece shopping to pick out her own gift. I love going to the Disney Store as an adult so I can only imagine what a treat it must be for a 4 year old.

  13. All the kids in my classroom are in and out of school because of sickness and not feeling well. I myself don't feel too good while writing this, either. I do hope you're feeling better now and wish you a GREAT February! I can't wait for the first snow to fall here...
