2018 Beat The Backlist Sign-Up and TBR
While I enjoy reading the newest releases, there's no getting around the fact that there are tons of great books already out there. So, I'm joining the 2018 Beat the Backlist Challenge hosted by NovelKnight! I have a lot of older titles on my TBR; some have been there for awhile, others have been added more recently as I came across them. Either way, blogging has caused me to focus more on new releases, so I want to make a concerted effort to get to those older titles!
For all the details, head over to NovelKnight - but the basic premise of the year-long challenge is to read any book published in 2017 or earlier. You make your own reading list, earning points for each title you read - and there's a team component! I think it'll be fun to work together to earn points!
I have so many backlist titles on my TBR, but I've chosen 30 to start with. This year I'm trying to get to a lot of books that I've seen other bloggers rave about. Any suggestions for where I should start?

I'm planning to do this challenge as well! There's so many books I own (dating back to like 2013) that I still haven't read. Lots of good picks here! I loved My Lady Jane, and Maggie's Shiver series is one of her best. I'm a huge fan of Liane Moriarty, but I didn't like Three Wishes very much. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on it. It was good - don't me wrong - but it wasn't the level of good I've come to expect from her. But then again, I read it after reading all of her other books so maybe too high of expectations lol Happy reading!! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, good luck to us both! I feel like I'm the last person to read My Lady Jane, but I've only heard good things about it! I think maybe Three Wishes is one of Moriarty's earlier works? I've mostly enjoyed her other books, so we'll see how this one goes!
DeleteYay, I'm excited to see that you're doing this challenge as well. You have so many great reads on your TBR. I can't wait to see what you think of A Darker Shade of Magic, This Savage Song, and My Lady Jane.
ReplyDeleteI know, I feel like I'm the last person to read these!
DeleteFun challenge~! I am really going to try and get to more backlist books this year. You have such a lovely TBR with some of my favorites - RPO, Before We Were Strangers,, Results May Vary. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Grace!
DeleteYou have 8 books I read on your list, and I really liked all of them. I also see a few books that I have had for ETERNITY and still have not read *shame*. One Plus One is one of my favorite Moyes books. It made me smile tons, and Dangerous Girls totally lived up to all the hype for me. SoC, ADSoM, The Thousandth Floor, This Shattered World, and My Lady Jane were all fabulous too.
ReplyDeleteAhh, I really can't wait for a lot of these! I've been seeing them around for so long and so many of them are beloved by other bloggers!
DeleteOh best of luck for the challenge! It sounds like a lot of fun and I'm spotting a couple books on here that I read and loved: First and Then, This Savage Song, My Lady Jane, The Girl From Everywhere and A Darker Shade of Magic :D Hope you'll enjoy all of these! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thank you so much, Marie!
DeleteWOW *gulps* That's a lot of books there! Amazing selection, though. But I honestly do not know where you should start! They all look so incredible. Maybe you should do them by cover theme? That could be fun :)
ReplyDeleteAmy @ A Magical World Of Words
That's a good idea! Thanks, Amy!
DeleteOo I've been meaning to read Ready Player One for ages now! I love the idea of getting through that stack of books you've always want to read but didn't because there's always new shiny distracting books ;)
ReplyDeleteI know, it's so easy to keep putting them off, but I feel like I'm missing out on so much!
Deleteoh my so many books!! I am going to have to skip tax season this year!
ReplyDeleteYes, do it! You can participate, too, make a Goodreads shelf!
DeleteI'm going to need your help with this
DeleteThe team aspect of this challenge sounds like fun! I'd really like to get to more of the books already on my shelves next year, so I might join this one too :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Good luck if you do decide to join, maybe we'll end up on the same team!
DeleteAhhh- the backlist! I swear that 2018 is going to be a better year for my backlisted TBR!!!!! Some of these are actually ON my TBR too and I really meant to read them soon after they came out. Oops!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED 6oC and Shades of Magic so I really hope you enjoy those ones too! I am DYING to read more Schwab so This Savage song is also pretty high on my TBR> :)
Best of luck with this challenge Angela and I hope you BEAT your BACKLIST in 2018.
Thanks, Di! There are just so many books and not enough time to read them all! I think all of us bookworms have the same problems!
