February was a busy month! Tom returned to work in January, but this month he had to start actually going in more often (instead of working from home) and to different sites, so I had a few days where I was home alone with Henry for most of the day. Then, in preparation for my return to work, Henry started daycare on Valentine's Day, so he could get used to it and we could start to figure out our routine. Turns out, he has adjusted just fine; it was me who was literally sobbing that entire first day. Tom and I went to breakfast after dropping him off, and I had tears streaming down my face in the diner booth. Pretty embarrassing! It's gotten better since then, thankfully. Near the end of the month, I started back at work (still working from home, luckily!). While it's busy season for the accountants at the firm, it's a quieter time for me, so I've just been catching up on stuff from the three months I was off. We celebrated my mom's birthday this month and ordered in from a local restaurant we all enjoy. My mom and I also took a Chinese New Year cooking class. It was less cooking and more demonstration than we thought, but we did get to make our own dumplings, and the food was delicious! Henry turned three months old on the last day of February; he loves to smile and kick and has recently discovered his left hand, which he is fascinated by!

Baby smiles are the cutest! 😍
ReplyDeleteHenry has the best smile!
DeleteAww, I'm glad Henry adjusted quickly. Brooklyn started daycare this week. She's 3 years old and has never been away from us. Since she loves other kids, she had no problems being left at daycare. Happy March!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's so good for Brooklyn!
DeleteDaycare will get easier for you, I promise! This month flew by but glad we got to do some fun things.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteAww, ((HUGS)) mom. It is hard leaving your baby. I read Talk Bookish. I thought it was cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sam! It really was hard, and it happened so fast!
DeleteLove the baby updates, makes me remember when my nieces and nephews were younger. Glad he took so quickly to daycare. Hope you have a happy March!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Alicia!
DeleteSeems like starting daycare is almost always harder for the parents than for the child. My son is 14 now and I still remember sobbing the first time I dropped him off at a daycare when he was a baby.
ReplyDeleteOk, I don't feel so bad now! And yeah, Henry is so young, he really had no idea what was going on, but I still felt bad!
DeleteThat first day at daycare is so tough! Oh my gosh emotionally wrenching. Happy birthday to your mom too! The chinese cooking class sounds fun. :)
ReplyDeleteIt really was! So many conflicting emotions that day!
DeleteThanks, Greg!
Three months already!?!?! I can't believe it! A Chinese New Year Cooking class sounds fantastic. I haven't read any of the books on your list other than Talk Bookish to Me, which was a cute one. I hope you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?? It's already going so fast!
DeleteI can't imagine how hard it'd be to drop your kid off for the first time! I'm really glad to hear he did well, though, and I hope it continues to get easier for you to do. <3 It's so weird now with people going back in to work, we are still waiting to see if my husband will have to go in more or not! That cooking class sounds so fun! And wow, I can't believe it's already been three months–congrats! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jordan! OMG, it was so hard, but he seems to be adjusting well! It's crazy that things are still so up in the air for your husband!
DeleteAww I can only imagine how tough those first days at daycare must have been for you a new parents, but glad to hear Henry is doing good :) That cooking class sounds like a lot of fun though, and good luck with going back to work!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lindsey! Leaving Henry hasn't been easy, but I think it's the best decision for all of us.
DeleteAwww!! I remember those days! I would drop Wyatt off at preschool and sob. It didn't help that he did too! It gets easier. :) And he sounds like he is doing great!
ReplyDeleteI love all the bee themed reading! I read Honey and Venom and I thought it was such a different look at beekeeping.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad I have the reassurance of other parents.
DeleteHoney and Venom was such an interesting read!
